Inception Hosting ( Review

Quick Information

Inception Hosting are a UK based, well established hosting company which incorporated in 2011. They offer a varied range of hosting related services and are also a member of LowEndSpirit. They also offer multiple locations such as Phoenix USA, London UK and Rotterdam NL. Each location features redundant power solutions for every server and access to Inception Hostings 24/7 support (depending on the importance of the issue, otherwise 09:00 – 19:00 UK time).

We won’t be going too in depth about LowEndSpirit in this review as it deserves its own post in my opinion.

Before ordering make sure to read through their Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

Pre Sales

There wasn’t any Pre Sales contact before I purchased, this is because they were running a special offer which I did not want to miss (I ordered straight away :D).

The server I purchased from Inception Hosting may be one of the best deals I have purchased for a (reliable) VPS, my server features the following specifications –

  • 2 vCPU Cores (E5-2640v4 + Fair Share)
  • 6 GB Ram (DDR 4)
  • 1 GB vSWAP
  • 40 GB Disk (SAS Raid 10 + 2 x 512GB SSD’s running under cachecade)
  • 2000 GB Bandwidth
  • 1 x IPv4
  • 1 x /64 IPv6 Subnet
  • United Kingdom
  • OpenVZ

All for just €3.00 each month!

It’s worth noting that this was a special offer and was also available in the Netherlands (I purchased one there too) albeit with a different CPU and storage setup.

Inception Hosting also offer many other low cost services as their standard offering, including,

  • UK and USA based OpenVZ, KVM and Xen VPS
  • Netherlands based OpenVZ and Xen
  • Dedicated Servers
  • Shared Hosting
  • LowEndSpirit” NAT VPS (Read our guide on how to setup a basic website on these here)
  • Backup storage space
  • Domain names

All of these services are incredibly affordable (KVM in the USA / UK with 512MB RAM and 10GB SSD space for just €2.50 each month) and are very high quality.

You can view the full list of services by going to this page, then select the thing you want from the “Show Menu” button on the left side.

Inception Hosting Netherlands Speed Test

Inception Hosting Technical Support

I’ve contacted Inception Hosting’s support twice since I purchased my two servers. When I ordered my second VPS I chose the Netherlands location (as the first server was in the UK) it created me another SolusVM account for that VPS, meaning that I had two SolusVM accounts for the two VPS. I contacted support at 11:33 UK time and received a reply 4 minutes later from Anthony Smith saying that my two accounts had been combined, exactly as I asked.

The second time was because I received an email from Inception Hosting saying that –

“A handful of VPS servers may have been provisioned in the UK instead of the Netherlands due to human error when creating the package” and “If you would like your server moved to the Netherlands then please open a ticket and it will be migrated for you.”

I opened a ticket asking for my server to be moved (since I like having my servers in different data centres) at 18:08 UK time, I received a reply at 18:19 the same day with the new IP for my server after the migration completed, perfect!

I am very pleased with the support at Inception Hosting, just remember you have purchased an unmanaged service  so they’re not going to update or manage your server for you and if you have a LowEndSpirit service then use the forum instead of opening a ticket.

Extra Features

All VPS packages that Inception Hosting provide come with a free 15GB offsite backup space that can be accessed via Rsync / FTP on request. Great for taking backups of your important data without having to purchase another server or service.

Overall I am very pleased with the two servers I purchased from Inception Hosting and I’ll definitely be renewing them for the foreseeable future. They’re very stable and I can’t think of a reason not to keep them (they’re also being put to use, not just idling).

Inception Hosting have been around for years and are very reliable, I trust them with my production programs that the servers are running and highly recommend them to all the readers of VPSGuide, Anthony has a great business going and I hope the great service continues.

Just remember that if you purchase a LowEndSpirit service from Inception Hosting you are purchasing a service without an SLA or ticket support.

It’s also worth noting that if you purchase from Inception Hosting and create a PayPal payment subscription, you must cancel the subscription when you cancel your service. If you fail to do so then your payment cannot be refunded and will be added as credit to your account. You will not be refunded if you fail to do so.
